Mechanical Pencil

Disappearing fabric marking pen

White water soluble pencil

Sunny window or light box

Tacky glue

Black ribbon or yarn (for ties to keep Bible shut)

Black felt – 1 sheet

2 sheets of paper (for bible pages)

Basic sewing supplies

Bible:

#1.  Print out cover pattern on card stock.  Trace pattern on double layer black cotton material and cut out.

#2.  Trace cover pattern on single layer of felt and cut out.

#3.  Using a sunny window or light box and the white water soluble pencil, trace the “Holy Bible” onto one layer of the black material.  Place the layer of felt underneath this and embroider with a simple backstitch with your gold embroidery thread.

#4.  Lay the single layer of black cotton material left over down on your table and on top of this place, face down, your embroidered section of the bible.

#5.  Using 1/4 inch seam allowance, sew on all four sides, do NOT leave an opening.

#6.  Going through only one layer of the black material and making sure it is not on the side of the embroidered words, cut a small “X” for turning.  Turn and hand stitch the opening closed.  Press.

#7.  Print out the bible pages pattern on the front and back of 2 sheets of paper.  Cut out and center them on the inside of your bible.  Take the top page and fold vertically; place it back onto of the other pages.  Sew, using your black thread, on the fold line down the center of all the pages

#8.  Cut your black ribbon or yarn to the appropriate size and hand stitch (going through only one layer so the stitches do not show from the outside) on the inside of front and back covers making sure they’re centered.  Tie to keep the bible shut.
